Position Objective:

 

  • Cost effectively source locally managed raw material, packaging, supplies and MRO spends.
  • Manage inventories of raw material, packaging, supplies and MRO to assure adequate supply for plant production requirements.
  • Ensure purchases are compliant with corporate policies and adhere to internal specifications
  • Monitor and coordinate adherence of supplier approvals and preapproval's in support of plant food safety audits.
  • Plan daily and weekly production to ensure customer demands are met while maximizing efficiency

Safety

  • Act as an auditor on the floor

Food Safety & Quality

  • Plan a production schedule to accommodate and minimize changeovers and clean up
  • Coordinates with suppliers to obtain any missing COAs in a timely manner.
  • Maintains and updates the list of approved vendors/contractors in the Document Library. Coordinates with plant management and quality department to assure new raw materials & packaging items are added to the list and that specifications are created and added into the document library. Assure supplier non-conformances are entered into the NCMR database and closed in a timely manner (this should include documentation of investigations, corrective actions and supplier responses).Ensure that plant requirements are communicated with the supplier and coordinate with plant and corporate Quality to ensure they are properly maintained

  • Coordinates with Corporate Procurement and quality to ensure all potential vendors/contractors are properly "approved". Maintains updated files with proper supplier documentation and sign-offs.

Production Planning

  • Collaborate with corporate demand planning & forecasting team to develop the monthly rough cut production targets and build the daily/weekly production plan
  • Plan a production schedule to meet demand, satisfy inventory targets and to and minimize changeovers and clean up
  • Maintain inventory control for raw materials, work in process, finished goods inventory, and offsite 3PL warehouse inventories if needed
  • Plan production according to corporate demand plan as well as specific consumer needs, take into account plant operational needs while scheduling
  • Validate material availability for production plan to ensure that materials are on order for scheduled production
  • Create production and replenishment orders systematically

Customer Service

  • Enter purchase orders for all departments.
  • Cultivate potential suppliers to improve upon quality, service, and/or price.
  • Maintain inventory control and appropriate inventory levels for plant supplies.
  • Work with the warehouse supervisor to control inbound appointments for orders.
  • Coordinate with the warehouse supervisor to manage warehouse space requirements.
  • Develop inventory control procedures and complete inventory checks to ensure inventory accuracy
  • Be the backup point of contact for shipping & receiving scheduling

Procurement

  • Work within required lead time when placing supplier purchase orders and track shipments to ensure on time delivery.
  • Assists with (and sometimes leads) the sourcing process for raw materials & packaging. Develops source plans to ensure multiple approved suppliers are in place to manage risk.  
  • Whenever possible, utilizes E-procurement for bid process. Maintains record of bids, either electronically or hard copy, for auditing purposes.
  • Works within pre-defined spend authority levels to analyze supplier proposals and develop recommendations to Wilsonville plant management and Corporate Purchasing.
  • Creates contracts, letters, and other documentation suitable for communication to vendors, other personnel, and leadership. Periodically reviews and evaluates contracts and extended orders for either renewal or cancellation, within spend authority.
  • Manages purchases for supplies and spare parts, as appropriate, through a requisition process. In coordination with plant management, assists or leads transition of targeted MRO spend to utilize a requisition process. Whenever possible, assures competitive bid process is in place for supplies, spare parts and required services.
  • Strives to provide purchasing savings, minimize/optimize inventory dollars, negotiate extended supplier payment terms and where possible increase supplier diversity spending.
  • Coordinates with other AB Mauri/ABF sites and Corporate Purchasing to leverage local, regional and global spend and to develop best practices.
  • Monitors and ensures raw material and packaging inventory levels adequately meet production requirements.
  • As appropriate, identifies and evaluates requirements to develop EOQs (Economic Order Quantities) in order to maintain inventory levels at or below budgeted levels and to work within designated warehouse space. Re-evaluates EOQs regularly, adjusting for plant usage requirements, in order to avoid either obsolete inventory or product shortages. Negotiates supplier supported inventory reduction wherever possible.
  • Executes daily buying processes in ERP System & confirms correct pricing and dates are maintained in ERP. Assures approvals follow pre-defined spend limits when placing purchase orders and maintains local records of corporate contracts, whenever necessary.
  • Resolves conflicts and complaints with vendors and provides feedback through Annual Supplier Performance reviews.
  • Maintains adequate inventory on hand to support production requirements, while staying below accepted working capital budget levels.
  • Maintain a supplier scorecard.
  • Validate raw material availability for production runs
  • Develop and maintain the following metrics for all raw materials based off of forecasted demand:
    • Average inventory levels
    • Reorder point
    • Safety Stock
    • Lead time
    • Inventory Turnover ratio
    • Purchase Quantities

Cost

  • Ensure PO pricing is accurate
  • Ensure that orders have been received
  • Ensure that suppliers are being paid. Assist in resolving AP payment holds to minimize price while accounting for carrying costs.
  • Maintain accurate inventories at both the Wilsonville & 3PL locations
  • Work with production operations to maximize efficiencies and minimize OT on the production plan
  • Work with warehouse operations to minimize OT through effective balancing of the truck schedule
  • Plan changeovers, cleaning, and preventative maintenance to minimize cost to the plant

essential skills and knowledge

 

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • A total of 2 years combined experience in 2 of the 3 following fields 1) Production Planning, 2) Inventory or Materials planning/control, 3) Logistics Planning; or commensurate education to reduce years of experience required
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office Suite Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Strong math and analytical skills will be required
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain great relationships with suppliers and internal customers.
  • Multitasking ability
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience with a WMS & ERP systems
  • Bachelor degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Previous warehouse experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Previous knowledge of GMP's, HACCP, AIB/ASI standards
  • 1-2 years of proven hands on leadership
